Early Childhood Classrooms

"Quality Christian Care"

Infant I
Children may begin at 6 weeks. After their first birthday they are moved to the next infant room. We focus on developing their muscles for sitting, pulling up, and walking.

Infant II
12 months - 18 months, children at this age change dramatically. They are learning to walk, talk, and feed themselves. Their personalities are beginning to blossom and they are starting to become their own person.

Toddlers
The children in this classroom are 18 months - 2 years old. If the child turns two during the year, he/she will generally remain in this room until classes move up the following August. At this age, we focus on their flourishing vocabulary development.

Pre-Kindergarten
The 4-year-olds will be moving to St. Paul Lutheran School at 1920 E. Washington beginning with the new 2006-2007 school year. The children do various phonemic and phonic activities along with counting and number activities. Activities are taught around various themes.

Age 2
For children at age 2 by September 1st. The majority of children are in their younger twos, but there are some that are closer to 3 years old and who need help potty training. Activities for the children include: craft painting, learning the shapes, counting and talking about letters and numbers.

Ages 2-3
Most 2-year-olds here turned 2 the previous Oct., Nov., or Dec. The 3-year-olds generally have late spring or summer birthdays. By now, children are beginning to recognize some letters and numbers. They have calendar activities which include weather observation and holidays.

Age 3
All these children are three by September 1st. If their birthday falls in Oct., Nov. or Dec. they will be placed in this room rather than with the 2-year-olds. Most of these children will be four by the end of May and ready to go on to the four year old Pre-Kindergarten room. They continue to work with letters and numbers, calendar activities, weather and holidays.
